The SEIU Healthcare union speak out in response to persistent staffing issues that have worsened since the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than investing in full-time employees, Chambersburg Hospital has relied heavily on temporary staff, a decision that has led to chronic short-staffing, increased workloads, and reduced morale.

A Crisis for Caregivers and Patients Alike

During the speak out, hospital staff painted a picture of an environment where overwork is the norm. Many are juggling multiple jobs, struggling to make ends meet, and some even admitted to considering leaving healthcare altogether for retail jobs that offer better pay and less stress.
